CANDY BAR

RMIT Assignment

      Advanced Illustration Techniques

This assignment, was to create design assets for a foil candy bar wrapper such as a product name, main ingredient and a background.

The aim of this project was to analyse and respond to an industry style brief, selecting and applying appropriate and creative illustrative outcomes. We had to investigate and source our own materials while applying our own skills in digital imaging and image capture to produce our own artwork.

I was given the project of producing a chocolate bar with coconut flakes called ‘Coconut Hit’. It was to be marketed towards adults as a treat, using ethically sourced ingredients like dark chocolate and much less sugar than normal. However the client wanted it to look ‘bright’ and to stand out from other competitors.

Coconut Sketch

These are sketches of my final coconut that I used in my chocolate package (and of course they have been altered in photoshop).

Content - Images for retouching

I needed a picture of chocolate but no free images online suited what I wanted so I chose to take my own on my camera. I used two A3 pieces of paper for my background.

First Picture: This was a picture of the text. I was really happy with how the bevel and emboss turned out as it looks as if the typeface is eatable; Coconut calving.

Second Picture: The milk splash is one of my proud achievements in this project, with the help from a youtube tutorial, I gained knowledge on how to use the mesh tool to the best of my abilities.

Third Picture: The coconuts. They were my own sketches that I scanned in onto photoshop. I took out the white by selecting colour range. This helped a lot because i was able to change the colour of the hair of the coconut to make it look more realistic.
